Quickstart
Build and send your first interactive email in a few minutes. MailInApp is free while in early access.
1. Create an account
Sign up at mailinapp.com/login with email and password or with Google. You'll land on your dashboard, which lists your email projects and data sources.
2. Create a project
From the dashboard, click + New email and pick what it's for — survey, promotion, newsletter, event, transactional, dashboard, classroom, sports team, or Start blank. Picking a topic opens a carousel of that topic's real starter templates (a survey with a rating question, an event with a countdown, and so on) — step through and click Use this template, or start blank instead. It also decides which number leads your Responses dashboard later. It's just a starting point — every block stays fully editable, and you can change the purpose anytime. Built something worth reusing yourself? Save it as your own template later — see Starter templates & your own library. Everything you do in the studio is autosaved as you go.
3. Add blocks
Drag blocks from the palette onto the canvas:
- Layout blocks — sections, text, images, buttons, dividers and spacers — form the email's skeleton.
- Interactive blocks — carousel, accordion, poll, form, countdown, rating, spin-to-win — add the app-like behavior.
Select any block to edit its content and styling in the inspector. See Interactive blocks for what each one does and how it falls back in restrictive clients.
4. Personalize (optional)
Connect a data source and drop merge tags like {{first_name}} into any text. Preview the email with real rows before exporting. See Data sources & merge tags.
5. Preview the live view
Use the Live view button in the studio toolbar to open the hosted web version of your email — the same page recipients on restrictive email clients are offered as a fallback. It's fully interactive with zero JavaScript.
6. Send it
From the Send tab, send a test copy to yourself, then send to a contact or your whole list — no ESP required. The first time, either verify your own domain (MailInApp sends on your behalf, no SMTP credentials to manage) or point it at your own SMTP relay. Tip: open your test send in Gmail and, if you can, Outlook — you'll see the fallback engine choosing different tiers for each. How fallbacks work explains what you're seeing.
