Build journeys with AI
Describe a journey in plain words and the AI copilot builds it: the trigger, the waits, the branches, and even the emails it sends. Whatever it builds starts paused. The AI can never turn a journey on. You review it, then switch it on yourself.
There are two ways in: Create with AI builds a new journey and writes its emails, and the AI Copilot panel edits a journey you already have.
Create a journey and its emails
- On the Journeys page, click ✨ Create with AI.
- Under What should this journey do?, describe it. For example: "Welcome new signups, wait 2 days, and if they clicked, invite them to book a demo; otherwise send a friendly reminder."
- Pick the Contacts list it's for, and click Plan journey.
- Review the plan: the flow, step by step, and the emails it will write, each with a short brief. Start over throws the plan away.
- Click Write emails & create. The copilot drafts each email with your brand voice, then creates the emails and the journey together. This can take a minute.
When it's done, the journey is created paused and every email is a draft. Each email has an Edit link to the studio. Undo all deletes the journey and every email it created, as long as the journey is still off. Undo is only offered in that window, so once you close it, delete anything you don't want by hand.
The copilot reuses emails you already have when the description points at them, and writes at most five new ones. It can't create segments or signup forms. If the journey needs one, it tells you which, so you can create it and wire it in.
Edit a journey with the copilot
Open any journey and click ✨ AI Copilot in the editor's header. Ask for what you want, such as "add a 3-day wait before the reminder" or "notify me in Slack when someone books". You can also ask questions about the journey.
- A paused journey is changed directly. The change lands on the canvas as one step you can undo.
- A live journey is never changed. You get Proposed changes instead: a list of the steps it would add, edit or remove. Pause and apply turns the journey off and applies them in one go. Discard drops them.
- If someone else edits the journey while the copilot is working, its changes come back as a proposal too, so neither edit is lost.
The conversation is saved with the journey, so you can pick it up later.
The copilot knows every trigger and step, including Notify me, Enrich contact and Update deal, and it can see your lists, segments, emails, signup forms, booking types and pipelines by name. It checks its work against the same rules the editor uses, so it can't save a journey with a broken link between steps or more steps than your plan allows. It doesn't fake quiet hours with waits: set those yourself on the journey.
Plans and cost
Building journeys with AI needs a plan that includes the AI copilot (Starter and up). It uses the same monthly copilot turns as the studio copilot:
| Turns | |
|---|---|
| Planning a journey with Create with AI | 1 |
| Each email it writes | 1 more (up to 5) |
| Each message in the AI Copilot panel | 1 |
The dialog shows the cost and your remaining turns before each step. An email that fails to draft isn't charged, and a failed build gives every turn back.
From an AI assistant
Claude, ChatGPT and other assistants connected through AI connectors can build journeys too, with build_journey. Those journeys are also saved off. To turn one on, the assistant has to show you the journey first with get_journey, and the connection needs the campaigns:send permission. See the tool reference.
