Interactive Email for Surveys, NPS & Customer Feedback

A poll, rating or multi-page form shows up directly in the inbox and records a response with one tap — no separate survey tool, no landing-page redirect required for a simple question. Results roll up per question, with CSAT/CES/NPS averages and trend over time on the same dashboard as everything else.

Getting feedback usually means sending people to a separate survey tool and hoping enough of them click through. With MailInApp, the question lives right inside the email — a tap, a vote, or a quick fill-in — and the answer is recorded instantly. No survey tool to sign up for, nothing to build.

Do I need a separate survey tool?

No. Everything you need is a block you drag into the studio. The Form block alone gives you 12 question types — text, email, a long answer, a dropdown, checkboxes, a number, a phone number, a date, single-choice, multi-select, a linear scale, and star rating — so you can build anything from a one-question pulse check to a full multi-page survey without writing a single line of code. Poll and Rating cover the quick cases: a one-tap vote, a star rating, a quick "how are we doing" check.

The blocks built for feedback

  • Form — your survey builder. Add as many questions as you like, in whatever mix of the 12 types you need. Want it spread across a few pages instead of one long list? Just tick a page number on each question — MailInApp turns it into a "Start survey" button that opens a proper multi-page survey with a Back button, and nobody's answers get lost partway through.
  • Poll — a one-tap vote, recorded the instant someone clicks, with results waiting for you on a simple page.
  • Rating — a star rating, a 1-5 scale, or an NPS-style "how likely are you to recommend us" — one tap and it's recorded. You can even set a threshold so a low score notifies you right away.
  • Accordion — expandable sections for adding context or a short FAQ before your questions, so a longer survey doesn't feel overwhelming.

Building a multi-page survey

You don't have to think about how this works technically — just mark which page each question belongs to when you're building the Form block, the same way you'd fill in any other field. A short, single-page form still fills in and submits right there in the email. A longer, multi-page one opens as a clean step-by-step page instead, carrying each answer forward as your recipient moves through it, so nothing gets lost if they go back a page.

What you get back

Every Rating block automatically rolls up into an average score with a breakdown and a trend line over time — no spreadsheet math required. Every Form and Poll question gets its own results view: bar charts for anything with choices, a readable sample of answers for open text questions. It all lives in one Responses dashboard, the same place every other block's results show up.

Running an ongoing feedback survey automatically

Want to check in with customers a few days after a purchase or a support ticket closes, every time, without remembering to send it yourself? Set up a recurring send with an audience filter like "resolved 3–7 days ago" — MailInApp checks who matches on its own schedule and only emails people who haven't already gotten it. Set it up once and forget about it.

Getting your results into other tools

Point Zapier's webhook trigger at MailInApp and every response streams straight into your CRM or spreadsheet the moment it comes in — no code involved. Or just download everything as a CSV from the Responses dashboard whenever you want it, already grouped by who answered.

Getting started

Add a Form, Poll, or Rating block from the studio's block panel — drag it in, fill in your questions, done. See the full question types and block reference for everything each block can do. If you want answers linked to a known contact instead of collected anonymously, connect a contact list first.

Frequently asked questions

Can I build a multi-page survey without a separate tool?

Yes. Assign any question to a page in the block's settings — no code — and the form automatically becomes a "Start survey" button that opens a proper multi-page wizard, complete with Back navigation, that carries answers forward until submit.

How is NPS calculated?

Rating blocks in NPS style roll every response up into the standard promoter/passive/detractor split and score automatically, alongside CSAT and CES averages, with breakdowns and trend over time on the Responses dashboard.

Can I trigger a CSAT survey automatically after a ticket or order closes?

Yes — recurring sends re-evaluate an audience filter against your data source's current rows on every run and send only to matches not already covered, exactly the "resolved 3–7 days ago" rolling-window pattern a post-resolution CSAT send needs.

Can responses flow into my CRM automatically?

Yes, two ways: point Zapier's webhook trigger at MailInApp and every response streams into your CRM or spreadsheet the moment it comes in, no code involved — or just export everything as a CSV from the Responses dashboard, which already groups results per recipient.

Do respondents need to click through to a website to answer?

Not for a single-page poll, rating, or short form — those record with a tap or a quick fill-in right inside the email. Only a multi-page survey opens a simple web page, since flipping through several pages needs a bit more than an email can do on its own.
