Interactive Email for Coaches: Quiz Lead Magnet to Discovery Call to Course

A coach's funnel usually spans five tools: a landing page, a quiz app, a scheduler, a checkout and a course host. MailInApp runs it as one journey. New subscribers take a scored quiz inside the welcome email, the score lands on their contact, the ones ready for one-to-one work get a discovery-call booking block, and everyone else gets your course.

Your 2-minute business check-up

A coach's funnel usually spans five tools: a landing page, a quiz app, a scheduler, a checkout and a course host. MailInApp runs it as one journey. A scored quiz in the welcome email sorts new subscribers, the ones ready for one-to-one work book a discovery call from the email, and everyone else gets your course.

The quiz lead magnet works because people like learning something about themselves. The answer is just as useful to you, as long as it lands somewhere you can act on it.

Capture, then score in the welcome email

Point a signup form at your contacts list and put it on a landing page or your own site. The quiz itself belongs in the welcome email: a Quiz saves the number of correct answers to a contact field, plus a _passed field with yes or no. Answers are saved only for contacts on your list, so a quiz on a public page can't tell you who took it.

Branch on the answer

A journey branch checks the saved field. Subscribers who are ready for coaching get an email with a Booking block for a discovery call. The rest get a free lesson and an invitation to your course. Nobody has to sort the list by hand.

Discovery calls without a scheduling page

The booking block shows your open times from Google Calendar inside the email. One tap books the slot, adds a Meet link and sends a confirmation with a link to reschedule or cancel. You get an email for every booking, and a Meeting booked trigger can start a follow-up journey, such as a short pre-call questionnaire.

Sell the course or the workbook

Courses live in your member portal, with lessons, progress tracking and Stripe subscriptions on your own connected account. A button to the portal's subscribe page is all the email needs. For a one-off product such as a workbook, a Product block with digital fulfillment emails the download link the moment the payment clears.

Getting started

Create a signup form for your lead magnet and a welcome journey whose first email holds a scored Quiz saved to a contact field. Add a branch on that field: one path with a Booking block for discovery calls, one path with your course offer. Connect Google Calendar and Stripe before you switch the journey on.

A typical build-and-send sequence

  1. 1

    Capture subscribers

Create a signup form for your lead magnet and put it on a landing page or your own site. Each new subscriber joins your contacts list and can start a journey.

  2. 2

Score them in the welcome email

Put a quiz in the journey's first email and save its result to a contact field. Answers are saved only for contacts on your list, so the quiz belongs in the email, not on the public page.

  3. 3

    Branch on the answer

A journey branch checks the saved field. Subscribers who are ready get an email with a booking block for a discovery call. The rest get a free lesson and your course offer.

  4. 4

    Hear when someone's ready

Every booking emails you, and a Notify me step or a hot-lead alert can reach your phone or Slack when someone warms up, so you go into the call prepared.

  5. 5

Sell the course or the workbook

A button to your member portal's subscribe page starts a Stripe subscription for the course. A product block sells one-off digital products, delivered as soon as payment clears.

Frequently asked questions

Can the quiz go on my landing page instead?

The quiz works on a landing page, but answers are saved to a contact only when they come from an email sent to your contacts list. Anonymous answers from a public page aren't saved, so put the scored quiz in the welcome email.

Do I still need a scheduler like Calendly?

Not for one-to-one calls on Google Calendar. The booking block shows your open times in the email, books the slot, adds a Meet link and sends a confirmation with a link to reschedule or cancel.

How is the course paid for?

Courses live in your member portal and are paid for with Stripe subscriptions on your own connected account, monthly or yearly, with an optional free trial. Courses and checkout need a paid plan.

Can I sell a one-off product instead of a subscription?

Yes. A product block with digital fulfillment emails the download link or code as soon as Stripe confirms the payment.

Can something happen automatically after a booking?

Yes. A journey with a Meeting booked trigger starts when someone books from an email sent to your list. Use it for a pre-call questionnaire or a reminder with the call's details.
